What is an OEM battery? How is it different from a non-OEM battery?

To be simple and clear, OEM hybrid battery is brand new. The OEM battery is manufactured by the "Original Equipment Manufacturer".

When comes to OEM hybrid battery, it means the battery is the same as the one originally supplied with the hybrid vehicle, while a non-OEM battery is a kind of battery made by another company that reverse-engineered the original battery, it might be new, but it also can be made up of inferior battery cells. 

OEM drive motor battery packs are batteries used on hybrid and/or electric vehicles that power the vehicle's drive motors. The battery requirements, analysis, and rationale for a plug-in hybrid vehicle reflect the typical shallow cycles experienced by a power-assisted hybrid battery over a 15-year lifetime (equivalent to approximately 150,000 miles).  There comes a type of battery called replacement hybrid battery, whose life expectancy comes with a warranty of up to 5 years, depending on the driving enviroment of the vehicle and battery's condition. You can expect a longer worklife if properly used, like 8-10 years.

The brand new replacement hybrid battery is the OEM hybrid battery, it's made by the manufacturer who produce the new replacement hybrid battery cells for the dealerships, however, the new replacement hybrid battery is sold under different packages and brands when not sold by official dealerships.
